“Make a Girl” is based on Yasuda’s 3D short “Make Love,” which he created independently. The story revolves around a high school boy named Akira who invents an “artificial girlfriend” named Number 0. Yasuda and his studio are collaborating with the 3D CG studio Xenotoon on the film.
A Campfire crowdfunding campaign for “Make a Girl” launched on August 26, 2022, with a goal of 10 million yen (about US$67,000). The campaign concluded on October 31, 2022, raising 23,730,805 yen (about US$160,000). Originally targeted for a 2024 release, the film is now scheduled to open on January 31, 2025.
Yasuda founded Yasuda Gensho Studio in 2021, after working as a CG animator for Nitroplus. His independent short animations, created using Blender, have gained significant popularity on Twitter and TikTok, amassing a combined following of 5.8 million.
